This thing is 3 audio CDs (45 tracks total) and 1 DVD-ROM of music (59 more tracks). 104 tracks total and one hell of a tagging mess! The Audio CDs were ripped with EAC as usual. The DVD content was in WAV 16/44.1 in fact (CD quality). So… I had converted everything to FLAC and tagged the mess. And that Discogs entry? Took me 14 hours to do. Oh and the DVD also has a nice PDF with credits and lyrics.
I actually purchased this to get an extended for Eurobeat Union’s “Sign Of Autumn / Nu-Ko”. Because, yes, that’s where it appeared. It wasn’t a new track in a mix. Also, this package is VERY diversified. There’s a genre for everybody on this.
I promised. And, now, I deliver. So, now this series is complete until a new release. (also, this is an intermezzo before the final and second biggets release!)
God I’m lucky that Melonbooks restocked it. Wasn’t feeling like asking my forwarder to go to a con for this single volume.
And now, for one of the “pièce de résistance”.
This CD will go among the history of Super Eurobeat. It contained Travis Stebbins’ “The Top” (under Ken Blast) and appeared on Initial D. You might ask yourself, “Why is it such a big deal?” I paid this CD roughly 85$CAD. Used. Once I received it, the price tag became 200$CAD on Amazon Japan. Sellers such as KUPIKU-COM on Discogs (see Discogs link above) sell it for… *drum roll* 650$ CAD (~500$US). This CD is quickly becoming one of the rarest and most expensive SEB CDs of all time (along with SEB Vol. 7 (AVCD-10007)). And it will be excessingly more expensive if another copy shows up with an obi. I was lucky to find a decent copy at that price with the coupon-insert and obi. I was almost seeing myself with this CD but without the obi, because it’s THAT rare.
Now, to the rip itself. It’s a MAJOR upgrade over the last FLAC. See, I discovered that TheGr8est’s rips removed the silence between the tracks which makes his rips… incredibly inacurate. So, yes, the current version of “Rocketman” by Mega NRG Man is missing the 10sec silence between itself and the ballad remake. So, this rip, for the first time, fixes all that! And, don’t ask why the booklet scans have a yellow-ish tint. I’m as clueless as you.
Time for the actual mix and CD release…
Sometimes, you ask yourself “why is this even a thing?” This is one of these cases of “WHY THE FUCK IS THIS SO FUCKING EXPENSIVE?” It’s not even a good mix. Sure, there are a couple of good songs among the new one but that’s about it. Also, the front booklet scan is dirty, looks weird, etc. and you are wondering why. It’s foil. Yeah. “But I had this Russian’ scans and it looked better!” I don’t know how they managed it but I know for sure that it’s not color inverting.
Another question I can see people asking me: “Why would I download this when there’s already one out there?” Answer: *shrug* Dunno. Just putting it up. Had to rip it to access if it would rip correctly or not (result: it ripped correctly).
It’s time for 5 uploads!
To start things of, we have the title of this blog post!
There was a FLAC rip for this but, there was no log for it. At least, I didn’t have any for it. Also, I grabbed a copy before it because excesdingly expensive. Because… it’s going to be one of those… Thanks “Hot Hot Racin’ Car”.
